About Rachel Colton

Radio, Music & Everything Else

Rachel Colton is a passionate radio host known for her dedication to unsigned and independent musicians, proudly helming shows at Crags Radio and Future Hits Radio. Growing up in a small town with a tight-knit music community, Rachel's musical journey began early when she learned to play the violin in school. By the age of 11, she was already writing songs and discovering a deep love for songwriting, both for herself and in collaboration with others. Her musical versatility expanded as she picked up various instruments, eventually finding a particular joy in playing the bass guitar.

Rachel's talent and dedication led her to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) as a bassist. During her time there, she toured extensively across the UK and Norway, honing her craft and gaining invaluable performance experience. Graduating with a first-class honours degree, Rachel had the unique opportunity to have a one-on-one session with Sir Paul McCartney. Her education was further enriched by working with industry veterans Eddie Lundon from China Crisis and Keith Mullin from The Farm.

After graduation, Rachel gained further industry experience while interviewing for a position at Polydor, Universal in London. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic didn't slow her down; instead, it sparked a new interest in coding and artificial intelligence. She pursued this passion and completed a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Songwriting at BIMM in Birmingham, where she met influential figures like Jack Saunders from Radio One.

Rachel's career trajectory took her into the realm of research and development at Music Tribe, where she contributed to creating AI tools for musicians. Her role expanded into technical marketing and social media for renowned brands such as Midas, Aston Microphones, TC Electronic, Turbosound, and more.

Throughout her career, Rachel has been a steadfast champion of new music, always eager to share her latest discoveries with friends and family. Once she felt secure in her position at Music Tribe, she reached out to local community stations and was thrilled to become a radio host for Crags Radio in Nottinghamshire, where her show "Hidden Harmonies" was born. Her influence continued to grow, leading to another show on Future Hits Radio in Southend on Sea, alongside a rapidly increasing presence on social media platforms.

Rachel Colton's journey is a testament to her relentless passion for music, innovation, and the support of emerging artists. Her work continues to inspire and elevate the voices of unsigned and independent musicians, making her a cherished figure in the music community.
